Opportunity to Share Your Pandemic Experience
posted on April 26
The Missouri Conference has started a project called The Missouri United Methodist Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic to intentionally document how Missouri United Methodists have responded to the pandemic so that we will be able to capture and provide historical documents to future generations.
We’re inviting pastors and laypersons from the Heartland district to be a part of this oral history. We have 20-minute time slots available near you at Red Bridge UMC on Thursday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If that date doesn’t work for you, we’ll be nearby at Platte Woods UMC on Tuesday, May 4, from 2- 5 p.m. Feel free to pick a time that works for your schedule. You can sign-up for an interview using the link below. Interview slots are on a first-come, first-served basis.
We have already recorded interviews in O’Fallon, Cape Girardeau, Springfield and Joplin. You can watch those stories at www.moumethodist.org/covid-19-stories.
Ahead of the interview, there’s no need to prepare other than to spend some time in reflection as to what life has been like since March 2020. An interviewer will be there to ask questions, and we’ll see where it goes. Also, if you know someone else that we should consider interviewing – clergy or laity – based on their experience of the pandemic, please invite them to sign up.
If you cannot join us for an interview, you might consider sharing a photo or video with a short reflection about your experience. We are hoping to use this portal to expand our reach into lay stories about the pandemic. Visit our Share Your COVID-19 Story portal to share
